Life’s a…

Life’s a wheel of fortune and it’s my chance to spin it

Life’s a rollercoaster; it has its ups and its downs

Life’s a party, dress it properly

Life’s a dance, you learn as you go.

Life’s a dream that’s come true.

Life’s a journey, enjoy the ride

Life’s a journey, only you hold the map.

Life’s a climb but the view is great.

Go after your dreams!

We all want to do big things in the future. We look out the window and daydream, we imagine how great our lives will be when we pull off that one thing. That one thing we know we were born to do. Could be a dream job, a childhood passion, or some fantastic feat of derring-do. I Dreams are fun to think about, but they’re rarely as easy to pursue. Fear blocks us. We’re overwhelmed. We’re too comfortable. The list of excuses goes on and on. So we forget about it, or hit the snooze button instead of the pavement. We know we’re better than this, and yet, somehow, we disappoint ourselves. Stop thinking about others, and go for it! Your dream is what you want, not what others want. Take some time to go after what you want. You will be satisfied in the end, no regret there!

Magic with a hint of Wisdom

Most people dream about magic. They wonder if it’s real, and if they’re ever going to come into contact with it. For me, magic is everywhere. I see it in the way the leaves are arranged on the ground come fall, how the dewdrops on a blade of grass are perfect. That magic is in that breeze that comes out of nowhere, that makes the heat of the day a little more bearable. Magic is in that good deed you do because it’s the right thing to do.
People try to come up with scientific explanations for those things, or they say that they aren’t real magic. They think that real magic, if it even exists, is in wizards with pointy blue hats, spells and fairies, witches and warlocks. I don’t think that. I think magic is in miracles, when you believe. Magic is like a seed, it can sprout and take root in one place, but over time it spreads. Magic is how a giant oak tree can grow from a tiny acorn. I used to be one of those people who dreamed of magic, who dreamed of becoming a princess or an enchantress and going on fantastic adventures. Then I took a step back and looked around, and saw magic was in ordinary things, like the first day of summer, that pure joy I experience. Is that other type of magic real, the magic we dream about? I don’t know, but if it is, the whisper of magic will find me when I least expect it.

Creativity Lies Within You: Part 1

Light your spark, because creativity lives inside all of us. Creative people invent, imagine, problem-solve, create, and communicate to inspire, help and teach us. Many careers out there requires creative thinkers like scientists, engineers, medical researchers, technology innovators, business entrepreneurs, artists, performers, writers and illustrators, designers, inventors, educators and parents. If you have the ability to “think outside of the box” you will lead the future and make special things happen. Creativity is one of the greatest qualities many of us can be blessed with. It is important since it helps us look at situations with different perspectives, expands our knowledge, helps inspire us and fuels our thinking.

Creativity is what makes your life fun and is what gets you excited each and every day you wake up in the morning. That is when you allow yourself to be true to yourself. You must stop worrying about what other people think or say about you. If you have fun doing it and it keeps you thinking and trying to figure out a new and better way, then that is what you need to focus on in life because creativity is what pushes passion. Think about it like this: How many times have you heard about a producer say he was up all night working on a song? Or an artist working 5 days straight on a new piece? They don’t complain about it; they love it and live for their creativity, allowing it to push them beyond their limits and above their boundaries. You are blessed with creativity, so don’t let it go to waste.

Admitting your Mistakes

You’re not perfect and you know it. Everyone makes mistakes, and it`s completely normal. Admitting your own errors and apologizing for them, if an apology is due is amazing. It’s the first step to being a great person. If you do that, it’ll make a person believe in you and have more trust in you. It  can be a challenge but it will create a better relationship between you and others. Don’t try to run away from the mistake or it will continue to chase you. You can’t change the past but you can live better in the future. Learn from the mistake but don’t do it again. We all make mistakes, and if we didn’t make them we’d never learn anything, and we grow any smarter nor wiser. Admit to your mistakes from now so you can move forward.

Self-Esteem: Feeling but Opinion

Self-esteem is like a feeling, the opinion you have about yourself. It’s all about how much you like who you are. Self-esteem is a part of you but it`s not an actual body part. The doctor can’t feel or listen to self-esteem when she’s examining your body. It’s the big idea you have about yourself that you carry in your heart and head. Your self-esteem is a little voice that says:

  • “Give it a try”
  • “You’re terrific”

  • “You can’t do it.”
  • “What a jerk you are.”

When your self-esteem is high, you can do anything. When it’s low, you think you can’t. Even though self-esteem is inside of you, the world can see it through your body language. In most situations, a person with high self-esteem takes pride in everything and is confident. Self-esteem comes from within you but it’s more complicates than that. You self-esteem has been built since you were a baby. How you take care of yourself, the choices you make, and the goals you set plays a big part in determining your self-esteem. Whenever you try something new, whether you succeed or not, you are improving your self-esteem. Anyways, you can’t always have high self-esteem but you can always try and be more positive of everything.

Maya Angelou: A sensation!

We lost Maya Angelou on Wednesday, but not the beauty and wisdom with her words. She was an inspiration to all. Let’s take a look at her pearls of wisdom and see what we are missing from in our life.

Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with deeper meaning.

Find a beautiful piece of art. If you fall in love with Van Gogh or Matisse or John Oliver Killens, or if you fall love with the music of Coltrane, the music of Aretha Franklin, or the music of Chopin — find some beautiful art and admire it, and realize that it was created by human beings just like you, no more human, no less.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart.

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.

When I am writing, I am trying to find out who I am, who we are, what we’re capable of, how we feel, how we lose and stand up, and go on from darkness into darkness. I’m trying for that.

Some day we’ll be able to measure the power of words. I think they are things. They get on the walls. They get in your wallpaper. They get in your rugs, in your upholstery, and your clothes, and finally in to you.

Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.

Happiness is no joke!

Happiness is the best emotion ever! It is a strong emotion that makes you want to jump, shout out, do your happy dance or behave like a crazy person. Think about it. Happiness is something you have definitely felt before. Happiness is different for every person. Only you know the things that make you smile or feel warm inside. Those things that make you feel fuzzy and make your heart feel love. One thing’s for sure though, there would be no happy without sad. Everything needs an opposite, that’s just nature. Always remember though, there is LOTS TO SMILE ABOUT IN LIFE:) Smile anytime, anywhere. It’s something that could make you happy.  You smile because your body senses happiness and pulls the nerves into the best state possible: the smile! Be happy, smile and laugh a lot because that’s the cure to everything, or so I say!

Thinking your way to Positivity

Do you always hear everyone saying it’s good to be positive? Well, think about it because IT’S TRUE. Having a positive outlook is a choice. You can choose to think thoughts that make you happy, throw a more optimistic look on difficult situations, and make your day brighter and have more hopeful approaches to the things you do. By choosing to take a positive outlook on life, you can forget the negativity and have possibilities and solutions instead of worries and obstacles. Let’s say you entered an essay contest and didn’t win, instead of being all sad and miserable, you should be more positive by saying that next time you will do better, and that you at least got an opportunity to enter a contest. Here’s a quote: “I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened”   ― Mark Twain. Positivity is great!

Secrets to Believing

We all have secrets, some even include religion. We all believe in different gods and the different lives we have change how much faith we have to believe, how much trust we put into ourselves. I am a full Hindu, speaking tamil, both sides from Sri Lanka. Many people trust god, they ask him for to give them their needs and desires, and when we don’t get them, we get angry, we get frustrated. I called this post,”The Secret to Believing.” But there is no secret, not one that I know of anyways. The secret lies in putting this truth into practice, by making it such a powerful theme in your life that you view every event, every sorrow, every prayer with honesty and respect. You have to be happy with you life, be grateful for what you have.

For someone who has gone through cancer, the deaths of loved ones, broken relationships, and job layoffs,  it can be hard to trust the Lord, it’s a lifelong challenge. Each new crisis means committing to believing over again. The good news is that the more often you see God’s loving hand working in your life, the easier this trusting becomes. When you trust in the Lord, you’ll feel as if the weight of the world has been lifted off your shoulders. The pressure’s off you now and on God, and he can handle it perfectly. God will make something beautiful of your life, but he needs your trust in him to do it. Are you ready? The time to start is today, right now.
